I asking this question on behalf of my sister, not myself.

My mom (who I love to death) keeps on cutting my sisters daughters hair. (ie, my niece) and it REALLY bothers my sister. Shes asked my mom to stop cutting it and she just wont.

They get into HUGE fights about it and they both complain to me. My mom thinks that since she babysits Anna my niece that she should be allowed to cut her hair if she wants to. And my sister wants Anna's hair to grow out.

How can I get my mom to stop? I hate seeing my mom and sister fight so much.

Anna is 3yrs old by the way.

As mean as it may sound, your sister might just have to put her foot down and tell your mom that if she don't stop cutting her daughter's hair that she will have no choice but to get someone else to watch her daughter that will honor her wishes. It's harsh, but sometimes even moms need a reality check. We actually had to do this with my mother-in-law. She was doing the same thing until we told her we were going to find someone else to watch our daughter. I don't think your mom would do that if it weren't family, but she still has no right to do it without the parents consent.

I am not sure hiding the scissors will work, because she can just go pick up another pair. However, if I were your sister, I would find a new babysitter. Goodluck with this one, and Happy Holidays!!

NOT your mothers place. Someone else in the family should point this out to her. Your sister should get another babysitter instead of edna scissorhands.

remind your mum that your sister is an adult with her own children and she will be the one to make the decisions on Anna's behalf.

tell your mother (if your sister wont) that she is growing Anna's hair out, and Anna's hair is not to be touched. if she still thinks that she can run your sisters family you will have to get your sister to tell your mother that by her over-ruling her decisions makes her feel inadequate and she doesnt like being put down and her decisions criticised.

if she still wont listen to you (after that) tell her that if it happens again she will not be allowed to spend time with Anna alone. but remind her that it is the last resort and that IT WILL HAPPEN if your sister is not taken seriously. goodluck
