Can cutting one's hair stop compulsive hair-pulling?

My friend has a nervous habit of pulling out strands of her hair. Her is hair is kind of long.

If she got a really short, tapered haircut, would this make it harder for her to pull her hair out?

Yeah, but then she might start pulling your hair :-)

It's called trichotillomania and it's treatable. Like OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

ya but does she want to cut it?? its her hair remember

Can cutting one's hair stop compulsive hair-pulling?

nope by no means...i used to do this.

why dont you tell her about how when she pulls on a hair the hair follicle gets damaged and probably never grows again? if she keeps doing that shell end up bald. and once its gone its GONE. hair isnt something you can get like a shot of botox. once its gone theres pretty much nothing you can do, even if you have tons of money

anyway that was enough to stop me

no.. she might actually pull it more.. its a nervous habit.. not a cause its long habit..

maybe you should get her a rubber band and get her to start snapping it if she starts pulling her hair.. it will take a lot of effort on her part..
